November Ipsy!

November Ipsy Bag

It’s that wonderful time of the month again…Ipsy bag day! πŸ˜€ (I actually got it on Saturday, but real life has been hectic; I’m sure y’all understand)

November’s theme is “Girl Meets Glitter” & the bag is a glittery silver with pink trim. Need I even mention how much I adore this bag?! Forever 21 Cosmetics partnered with Ipsy this month on the bag.

In addition to my regular 5 items, I turned in 250 ipsyPoints to get a Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil. This chubby pencil applies very smoothly & looks very nice on my skin tone. It blends out into a nice, subtle, non-shimmery ivory color. I put it on over my primer & the color lasted all day. I was bumming after I picked this item, but I’m glad I did now!

Now, onto to the regular items! First up, SeaRx Micro-Dermabrasion Face & Body Scrub. Like usual, I was bumming when I saw this in my glam room instead of more makeup, but honestly? This stuff is uh-maz-ing, in every sense of the word! It’s got a nice lemon-y scent that I love. & talk about smooth skin after using it! Even my Hubby noticed the difference! Now my only disappointment in this item is that it isn’t the full-size. πŸ˜‰

Next up, Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray. This is a travel size, which is OK with me, as I rarely do more with my hair than brush it & put it in a pony. I haven’t used this product — yet. Not sure when I will LOL but I will one day! I’m happy to have received this item, but not really? IDK LOL

I joined Ipsy for the makeup, so let’s get to it! I’m loving the StarLooks lip gloss in Guilty Pleasure. It’s a pink-mauve color that adds a hint of color to my lips without being in yo face about it. It lasts a while without needing a touch-up. It’s got the typical lip gloss feel & I don’t really think it’s all that moisturizing — but it is a very nice gloss.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who doesn’t get a good night’s sleep & let me tell you, if you’re in that boat with me you’ll love IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye. This is available in 4 shades, I received Neutral Medium & it blends perfectly into my skin tone. This highly pigmented, buildable formula covers everything without creasing or cracking. I found that it held up all day without fading & even after washing my makeup off I saw an improvement in those dark circles I have. Totally pleased with this!

Last, but certainly not least, is Be A Bombshell Eye Base in Submissive. This shimmery bronze-ish color can be used as an eyeshadow base (& works wonderfully as a base), or it can be used as an eyeshadow (& it looks wonderful!). I had never heard of this brand before Ipsy, but I’ve loved every product I’ve tried of theirs, this included!

Overall, I thought Ipsy hit a homerun with my bag this month! It makes me excited for December’s bag!

What did you get in your bag?! Have you tried any of these products? Give me your opinions in the comments!

November Birchbox Review

November Birchbox

Look what I got in the mail yesterday! πŸ˜€

This month (due to the birchbox.com website revamp) I wasn’t able to sneak a peek at what I was getting, so when I opened my box it was a total surprise! A very pleasant surprise.

I’ve been wanting to try the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream since I first joined Birchbox, so seeing that immediately put a smile on my face. With winter already in full swing here (normal high temp is 47Β°, it’s 23Β°) my skin has been painfully dry & after using this just once I can tell a huge difference! I’m a fan! I also like that after the one use, I don’t think it’s something I need to use every night. It’s that hydrating.

I wasn’t too excited over the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel for Sensitive Skin. I mean, I do have sensitive skin (so they got that right), but I’m not a “peel person”. I will try it before I knock it, but as of right now, I’m not thrilled with it.

If you haven’t realized this yet, I love mascara; it’s the one bit of makeup that I won’t be seen without. I tend to always go with a waterproof mascara, though, which Mirenesse iCurl Secret Weapon 24hr Mascara is not. By the end of the day most of this mascara had bled onto my face. I liked everything about this mascara…up until that point. 😦

RUSK Texture Spray (Dry Finishing Spray). I don’t usually spend much time on my hair, but am glad to have received this sample — it gives me a reason to start! I’ve used it once, so far, & did like it. It didn’t make my hair feel stiff or brittle & didn’t look greasy. I’m looking forward to using it some more!

Another item I’ve wanted to sample since I first joined: Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35 in Light to Medium. This CC Cream protects against UVA, UVB, & infrared-A rays & works as a primer & foundation. I’ve loved every other Supergoop! product I’ve tried & I love this CC Cream, too! Looked very natural & even after washing it off I could see a difference! Bravo, Supergoop!! πŸ˜‰

This month I received a bonus in my box; Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter! Absolutely delicious on toast!  Nom nom!

Overall, I’m really happy with my box this month! I hope December is just as awesome! What did you get in your Birchbox? Are you pleased overall? Have you tried any of the products I received & if so, how did you like it/them? Let me know!

Quick!

Is that a bird? A plane? No, it’s Maybelline’s new The Nudes Palette sitting on my makeup drawer!

Ahhhh!! πŸ˜€

That, plus new Face Perfecting Brushes by EcoTools, a Beauty Blender, Maybelline Gel Liner (with brush) & an October Birchbox review. All posts soon to be coming to a blog near you (don’t look around, you’re already here!).

In the meantime, what are some of your new makeup purchases? What makeup/tools are on your Christmas wish list? Let me know in the comments! πŸ™‚

October ipsy Review!

October ipsy bag

Well, it took a week later than usual to get here, but my Glam Bag finally arrived! πŸ˜€

I’m quickly becoming overrun with cute makeup bags, but, dudettes (& dudes, if ipsy is your thing), I can’t help but love the turquoise bag this month! It’s one of my favorite colors & the quilt-like design is perfect for Autumn.

That , & I may be becoming a hoarder. Who knows… So, anyway, on to the goodies!

First up is the skyn ICELAND Glacial Cleansing Cloths. A lot of ipsy reviews were critical of these wipes; either people said they were too harsh for sensitive skin, or said the wipes didn’t really get their skin clean. I have sensitive skin, so was weary the first time I used one…but ya know what? One cloth removed all of my makeup, wasn’t too harsh for my skin & smelled really nice afterward. Not an overbearing scent, but a light cucumber scent. I love these! Plus, I had just run out of my previous wipes, so the timing was great!

Next up, City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappucino. To be honest, I wasn’t too excited over the color…until I tried it on. It looks like a 90’s, brown, lip color in the tube…but on? It’s more of a neutral lip color that goes amazing with my fair skin. Plus the product is cruelty-free. Another win!

As an eye makeup freak, I figured I’d like the ModelCo VolumEyes Mascara. I mean, mascara is a daily staple for me. This mascara gets the job done, I just have so many other mascaras that also get the job done & at a lower cost. Don’t get me wrong — I like it, a lot. It’s just…I might still be a tad bitter about not getting the eyeliner instead, though. LOL

I’m always disappointed to get lotions in my subscriptions & I don’t know why! I always end up loving them! I’ve had dry skin since I was tiny & the weather up here does nothing to help that. With all that said, let me introduce Figs & Rouge Mango Mandarin Hand Cream. My dry hands’ new love for the upcoming horribly dry winter (ugh!). The company is from the U.K., which for some reason makes me feel a little high class (I’m weird, I know). It’s non greasy, smells amazing & a little bit of product quenches the dryness. I also like the tube it’s in. Love this hand lotion!

Last, but hardly least, is the Doll 10 H2Glo Highlighter. Now, I’ve had a highlighter before, but never really liked it; it involved a lot blending & I never really achieved the look I was going for. I’m still a little shy using this particular highlighter, but it’s head & shoulders above my old one. Even the directions for the H2Glo Highlighter says “if you have to blend you’ve used too much“. I like straight forward directions like that! While I’m still getting the hang of this, I already love it!

Overall, while this month might have been a headache to get ipsy to take my money, it was well worth it. I loved everything in my bag — including the bag! πŸ™‚

What all did you get in your Glam Bag this month? What was your favorite item? Let me know in the comments!

October Birchbox Preview

October Birchbox Preview

Finally! Birchbox decided to update my box preview!

I’m always disappointed when I first see what I’m getting. I also noticed that my item choice wasn’t included. Ugh! 😦

Oh well. Hopefully when it gets here I’ll fall head over heels for everything. *crosses fingers*

What are you getting in your Birchbox this month? Are you happy? Let me know! πŸ™‚

September Birchbox

September Birchbox

For September, I decided to go with the pre-packed Fashionista Box. All of the boxes this month have a colorful design on them, which I think is a nice touch.

September Birchbox

I mean, it was an okay month; the Macadamia Professional Flawless Cleansing Conditioner is a full size & I really, really like it. It has a no suds formula, which was kinda odd at first, but got my hair clean & smooth. My hubby said he likes my regular shampoo better, though, because it makes my hair “go poof!” LOL

In my opinion, silver is a horrendous color for an eyeliner (at least on me)…but Birchbox disagrees. Cynthia Rowley Beauty Silver Eyeliner has a creamy, smudge-proof formula that may be good for creating a smoky eye look on some people, but definitely not for me. This was by far my least favorite product this month.

I decided to go with the Fashionista Box this month mainly for two items, one being the Naobay Body Radiance Lotion, which I had sampled in a previous box. It’s an all natural lotion that hydrates & softens skin without leaving a greasy residue. It has a nice, light lemon scent. I love this lotion!

The other item I really wanted this month was the Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara. It lengthens, volumizes & curls & is waterproof to boot. I have a hundred mascaras that do the same thing at a much more reasonable price, but I do like this one. Not enough to fork over $24 for a full size, mind you, but it was nice to try it.

Last thing in my box was dr. brandt pores no more vacuum cleaner. I wish I could give an honest review of the product, but my sample was nearly empty! It’s supposed to “degunk pores for fewer blackheads” & give spotlight ready smooth skin. I wouldn’t know, though. 😦

September wasn’t a total bust for me, I’ve certainly had worse boxes, but it wasn’t a home run, either. But hey, the products I liked, I really liked, so I consider that a win!

September Ipsy

September was an amazing month for ipsy subscribers, I kid you not! & after last month, it should have been!

September Ipsy Bag

Let me start by saying: I adore the Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Basic Instinct! Goes on smoothly, isn’t sticky like most lip glosses are & the color is beautiful! It didn’t even dry out my lips like other glosses do. I’d love to have more of this!

I’m currently rocking an awesome mani thanks to my new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polish in color Redgy. Very quick drying bottom color & an equally fast drying top coat. Best of all? Natural light is all this gel polish needs to look fab! This also came with a $2 off coupon, so I may have to go buy another set! πŸ˜€

There were two color options for the Pacifica Natural Minerals Eyeliner, a silver color & Fringe, a brown color. Thankfully, I received the brown! It’s a nice eyeliner pencil & I will get use out of it, but I don’t see what all the hype was over. In my opinion, it’s just your average eye pencil.

As sneak peeks were being revealed, I hoped I’d get the Be A Bombshell Smooth Criminal Powder & lo & behold, I did! It can be worn alone to smooth flaws & reduce pores, or over makeup as a setting powder. Either way, I think it works wonders! Tried it over my makeup & didn’t have to touch up once! & by itself, it did smooth over some of my imperfections (not that I have all that many “imperfections”!).

The final item from this month’s bag is Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. It smells good, but I don’t really like conditioners!

That’s not the end of my bag, though! I finally saved up 1,000 ipsyPoints & was able to score a NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit! It has 9 eyeshadows, 2 lip colors, 2 double ended applicators & a mirror! My entire bag was awesome, but this made it the best bag I’ve ever gotten! πŸ˜€

Walmart Beauty Box

I don’t even remember where I heard about the Walmart Beauty Box, but I’m glad I found out about it! The box of samples (& full size items) is free, you just pay $5 for shipping. The Walmart Beauty Box only comes out 4 times a year, though. 😦

Walmart Beauty Box - Fall

It’s a nice sized box! Bigger than my birchbox, for sure.

image
Walmart Beauty Box - Fall

Inside my box was 9 (yes, nine!) items:

Niki Minaj Pink Friday perfume sample
L’Oreal Youth Code Pore Vanisher
Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant
COVERGIRL Glowing Nights Glosstini in AfterDark
Dove Advanced Hair Series Oxygen Moisture Shampoo
Dove Advanced Hair Series Oxygen Moisture Conditioner
Dove Pure Care Dry Oil For Hair
Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup (with a $2 off coupon!)
L’Oreal Glossy Balm

For $5, I think I came out great! I’m sad it’s not a once-a-month box, but I’m still excited for the next one I get!

The Niki Minaj Pink Friday perfume smells great. I’ve already gone through half the sample, so hope I’ll get the full-size for Christmas!

I haven’t tried the L’Oreal Youth Code Pore Vanisher — yet. It came in a little packet, but I can tell the packet is very full. (Score! Most sample packets barely have anything in them)

I have been using the Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant since I got my box & really, really need to get more! Keeps my pits dry & smelling good all day. It’s supposed to be applied before bed & work for 24 hours. Certainly does for me!

Another one I haven’t had the chance to try yet it’s the COVERGIRL Glowing Nights Glosstini in AfterDark. It’s a pretty color nail polish & want to try it, but I have to wait for my current mani to chip off! πŸ˜›

The Dove Advanced Hair Series Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner is awesome! I already use the shampoo, so having an extra is nice. I’ve never really liked conditioner, so. Yeah. This one might be great, but I’m not trying it. LOL

I most definitely AM going to try the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil For Hair. Going by the directions, the one little sample ought to last a year, no joke.

The Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup is awesome! The downside? They put 8 tiny samples on a card, which is standard, I get it, but the samples are sooo tiny. I found my color match, but can’t really review the product since there wasn’t enough product to cover my face! The bright side? There’s a $2 off coupon, so I might buy the full size, anyway.

Best item out of my box, by far? L’Oreal Glossy Balm in Innocent Coral! The color is perfect for me! πŸ™‚  It’s like  moisturizing balm meets colorful gloss. & the best part? It’s not sticky! Plus, the color lasts quite a while!

I can’t wait for my Winter box to come, now! Hurry it up, Walmart! πŸ˜‰

Overall, I’m beyond happy that I signed up for the Walmart Beauty Box! & hey, when I want to buy the full size items, I know they’re at Walmart! πŸ˜‰
