I’m an Influenster!

My 1st VoxBox!

Several months ago I signed up at influenster.com. What is Influenster, you ask? From their web page:

Influenster is a community of trendsetters, social media masterminds, and educated consumers who live to give opinions of products and experiences.

Influensters meet here to learn about new products from our favorite brands as well as review the products they already use in their day-to-day lives.

I unlocked my Beauty Queen Badge, reviewed a lot of products, answered some people’s questions & last week I received my very first VoxBox! For those who don’t know what a VoxBox is:

VoxBoxes are boxes filled with complimentary products from your favorite (or soon-to-be-favorite) brands. Not all VoxBoxes are created equal: some programs feature an assortment of products while others will spotlight one awesome brand. But make no mistake: All VoxBoxes are created awesome.

Soooo, what was inside my VoxBox? Besides the super secret Rimmel London product they want me to test & review (blog post about that later!), they sent me this!

Rimmel London Exaggerate Eye Definer

This is a Rimmel London Exaggerate Eye Liner in Starlit Black. On one end is the eyeliner & on the other is a smudger & sharpener. It’s also waterproof.

I like this eyeliner; it’s easy to apply, creamy & has, like, silver sparkles in it. Not an overbearing sparkle, but just enough to accent my eyes. I’m not sold on it being waterproof, but it might just have been my oily skin melting it off. Honestly, this eyeliner reminds me of Avon’s Glimmersticks Eyeliner, which isn’t a bad thing. Being free, I can’t really complain!

July ipsy Glam Bag!

Howdy! June was a fun, busy month. Between birthdays, concerts & real life, I didn’t get the time to post much (at all!). I have a few posts planned to make up for it, though.

I got my July ipsy Glam Bag a few days ago & it’s beyond awesome!

June Glam Bag

The bag this month is uh-maz-ing! It’s really soft & has an almost leather-like feel. It’s plain pink, but it’s one of my favorite bags so far.

There wasn’t really any item that I didn’t like, but the one I was least excited about was the Hang Ten SPF08 Dark Tanning Oil. I have a hard time tanning (mostly I burn, even with sunscreen), so yeah, didn’t have high hopes for this. BUT! While I can’t say I’m rocking a tan yet, I can say I’m not rocking a sunburn, either. This oil sprays on & has a nice coconut scent. It wasn’t greasy, either. Overall, I do like this product. If it ever warms up enough to wear shorts & a tank top I’ll be using it a lot more!

ipsy also sent my a sample of bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow in the shade Divine Wine. I love bareMinerals, so was excited about this product. I like the color; it’s not too overwhelming. A great product.

Usually my hair care routine consists of wash, towel dry, comb & done. I do like trying styling products, but most of them require an investment of time, which I can pass on. The Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray is my kind of styling product! Brush damp hair, spray this & done. It added nice, loose curls to my wavy hair & smelled great in the process. I’d definitely buy more when this sample runs out.

I’ve only really used bronzers a few times, so now that I’ve got a pop beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in shade Secret Sunshine, I’ve got to start trying to remember to incorporate it into my make-up routine. I think this shade looks very good on me! & I think this is a full-size item, too! Very happy with this!

Last, but hardly least, is the Pixi Beauty Tinted Brilliance Balm in shade Pretty Pink. I adore this brand & have since I first tried them. This little lip crayon goes on smoothly, has a minty feel (can you feel mint, or am I crazy? LOL), & keeps lips feeling hydrated. I thought the color lasted a while, too. I had been hoping since the bag previews that I’d get this & thank you ipsy, I did!

I thought July was an awesome month at ipsy! 😀 All of these great products for only $10, I mean, how can you go wrong?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

May BIRCHBOX review

I posted the preview of the products BIRCHBOX said they were sending & while I wasn’t thrilled I was still kind of excited to try a few things. So when I opened my box today to find it filled with a completely different set of items…it kind of ticked me off!

May BIRCHBOX

Not that this box isn’t a 100% upgrade, but still.

First thing I grabbed was the SmartyPants All-in-One Fiber Gummies for Weight Management. I was OK with it until I read the directions; eat 6 a day, everyday, to feel full & healthy. The sample, however, only included 2 (because a whole day’s sample is a ludicrous thought!). I haven’t eat ’em yet, but know I won’t be spending $47.95 for a monthly supply of fiber gummies. I already take a daily multi-vitamin that’s way more affordable (although vitamins are expensive, anyway).

The next item I was super excited about was the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush. I’ve sampled a few other Pixi products through ipsy & really like the brand & this lip balm is just as awesome as I expected! Very moisturizing & the color is pretty. Best of all, at $8 I can afford to buy more!

The Coola Environmental Repair Plus Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion is a peptide-packed anti-aging gel that hydrates, firms, lifts & plumps fine lines. I thought at first it was for sunburn (that would’ve been great, because I’m famous for sunburn on top of sunburn), but it’s just a moisturizer, I think? It does kind of refresh my skin & I still like the product, but again, I don’t think I’d buy the full-size.

To be honest, when I saw the Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer, I did a little happy dance! It’s a really great product; it minimizes pores & fine lines & creates a silky smooth base for make-up. Worked just as advertised & a pea sized amount worked for me, instead of the recommended dime sized amount. Really happy that I got this sample!

The Caudalie Overnight Detox Oil is an all-natural blend of antioxidant plant oils that works to hydrate, purify & renew skin overnight. I gave this to my mom & she loves it, so that’s cool.

All -in-all, I really did like this box; it was probably the best I’ve ever had from BIRCHBOX.

May ipsy Glam Bag!

My May ipsy Glam Bag arrived today, much to my delight!

ipsy glam bag!

Pretty happy with the products I got this month; I’ll use everything, at least. I still feel a pang of jealousy seeing other people receiving more make-up than skin care products, though, but c’est la vie, je suppose.

I got a Pacifica Eyeshadow Duo! & I really did need the Hang 10 Waterproof Sunscreen (if it ever warms up enough to spend time outside – the high temp here today was 43°!). The Pur~Lisse Moisturizer is nice (one can never have too much moisturizer, IMO). I liked the derma-e scrub, too; it’s a rather generous size for a sample. Everything in my bag is cruelty-free, too, so props to ipsy on that one!

Best thing about this month is the bag, by far! It’s a spring-y, canvas bag & this puppy is taking over as my travel bag, for sure!

Avon!

I’m married to the sweetest man in the world! He rolls his eyes at my ever-growing collection of make-up, but he keeps right on enabling my addiction. 😀

Avon All-in-One Make-up Kit

Avon had this All-in-One Make-up Kit on sale for Mother’s Day for $14.99 (that’s 60% off!) & my hubby bought it for me. We may not have human children, but our 2 little pooches more than act like toddlers. 😛

Anyway, back to the make-up. This kit folds up into a nice & shiny little black box with AVON written on the top. The actual kit includes, from left to right: 2 lip brushes, 5 lip colors, 5 eyeshadow, 2 eyeshadow brushes, 2 bronzers & a brush, & 3 blushes & a brush. Also included were an Avon Ultra Color Lip Crayon in Risque Rose, Avon Ultra Luxury Eyeliner in Black & an Avon Mega Effects Mascara in Black. Did I mention all of this only cost $14.99?!

I love the make-up palette! I’ve been using it for the past few days & my only complaint about it is the brush for the bronzers & brush for the blushes don’t really pick up the product like a real brush would (I’ve got plenty of brushes, though, so not a deal-breaker for me).

The lip crayon is awesome! It’s a very pretty pink color, with sparkles in it & it’s a really long-lasting lip color. The eyeliner is OK; it’s not water proof, but it is creamy & lasts a while. The mascara, though, is uh-maz-ing! I bought this product when Avon first came out with it ($10, btw) & this is my go-to mascara, hands down. Instead of your average wand, this has a bendable brush so you can literally paint your lashes & do so easily! BEST. MASCARA. EVER. By far.

Overall, super happy with everything! Avon has never disappointed me!

Maybe it’s Maybelline!

Yesterday my mom was talking to a friend (about me) & told her,

Maybe she’s born with it!

Aww! It was very sweet of her & highly amusing to me; I was wearing my Maybelline Wonder Finish Powder Foundation! My mom & I got a good chuckle when I told her. She couldn’t tell I had any make-up on (reminder: take her to get new glasses!).

Anyway, I love this medium-coverage foundation. It applies easily, doesn’t get cakey & looks natural. A few pats with this & I’m ready to go! I especially like that I can buy it locally instead of online (there is something to be said about easy availability!) & at a reasonable price.

I also got Maybelline Mousse Matte Foundation. It was a BOGO, so you can’t blame me! If I loved the powder, then my feelings about this Mousse Matte Foundation can only be described as…euphoric! It applies easily & smoothly, mattifies, covers imperfections without the need for a concealer & leaves my skin feeling silky smooth. A little dab’ll do ya, too!

Maybelline Foundations

I still like my Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, but am super happy that I rediscovered the awesomeness of Maybelline (when I first started wearing make-up I always bought Maybelline). Goes to show, expensive isn’t always better.

May IPSY Sneak Peak

Because I have the patience of a 5 year old on Christmas Eve, I had to peek at what’s going to be in my IPSY Glam Bag this month!

image

At first I was pretty bummed; the only make-up I’m getting is the Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo. 😥

Then my loving hubby pointed out a few things:

You’ll use the sunscreen this summer! & look, it’s Hey Honey Take It Off! » wink, wink«

So yeah. I’ll give it all a try before ruling it out. I’ve noticed anyway though, that while I’m usually bummed about a product at first, I end up liking said product immediately after trying it.

& that’s what ipsy is about, anyway…trying new things! & for $10/month, it’s a steal. Getting more excited about my bag as I type!

the POREfessional by Benefit

I found Benefit Cosmetics through Birchbox last year when they sent me a deluxe sample of Benefit’s Hello Flawless Liquid Foundation (I wrote about that here) & have since fallen in love with their products. I’ve tried the samples of the POREfessional before & decided to get the full-size.

image
The POREfessional

It minimizes the look of pores & fine lines. You can wear it alone, or under make-up as a primer. It can also be used over make-up, too. I love this stuff!

The POREfessional really can be used alone, but it also helps my make-up stay looking good, longer. No more touch-ups needed! It comes in a .75 US fl. oz. tube & costs $31, so I consider that a tad expensive, but it’s SO worth it, IMHO.

In other news: my May ipsy bag ought to be here this week! Can’t wait!
